Owls are the most adorable things and have captured our fancy for decades on many everyday items, but none are as quirky and wonderful as the Night Owl design collection by Enid Collins. And this Enid Collins Original Box Bag by Collins of Texas can be yours. Designed and produced in the 1960s this one is in fabulous condition and is comprised of the typical small rectangular box decorated with a black whimsical little owl with big sparkling amber colored jeweled eyes and a gold tone beak. This cute little owl is placed in between two amber-colored jeweled stars. It closes with their signature brass clasp and has their signature brass and black patent leather loop handle. Inside you will find its original mirror along with the running colt logo. Enid Roessler Collins 1918-1990 studied fashion design and fine arts at Texas Woman’s University where she grew up in San Antonio, Texas. She and her Husband, Frederic Collins, moved to Medina, Texas to be ranchers, but in 1946, needing to supplement their income, they began making leather handbags and started the Collins of Texas Handbag Company. Approximately 1959 the fun, and often humorous, Box Bags were born. I’m sure you have the perfect outfit to accessorize with this bright-eyed owl or maybe you just want to set him on a shelf! You can do either, or both, just make it yours.
